Study Hall Policy
2009/10
Study Hall is an opportunity for students to use their time in the advancement of their academic classes. It is not a time to socialize. To honor and respect those students who desire to study during study hall, it is necessary for all students to maintain a quiet and non-disruptive attitude during study hall.
Teacher’s Responsibility:
“As the study hall monitor, I will strive to provide an environment conducive to study for all students. I will assign work to students who do not bring adequate work for the study hall hour. If a student consistently requires attention in study hall, I understand that disciplinary action should occur.
I understand that I must remain in the study hall classroom. I will not use this time for visiting, either in person or on a cell phone. I will walk around in order to view the students as they accomplish their Study Hall work.
I will maintain order, thus enabling the students to accomplish their homework
I may at times allow students to quietly talk or play games during the last 10 minutes of study hall.”
Student’s Responsibility:
“I recognize that study hall is a class and that all classroom behavior guidelines, as set forth in the Fellowship Coop policies, apply to study hall.
I will bring adequate work for the study hall hour. I understand that if I come to study hall without adequate work, the study hall monitor will assign work to me. I understand that if I consistently come to study hall without adequate work, the study hall privilege may be revoked.
I will sit at tables or desks during study hall, according to the teacher’s wishes.”
Parent’s Responsibility:
“I will make sure that my student has enough work to keep them busy during the study hall hour. I recognize that the study hall monitor will assign work to my student if my student arrives in study hall without sufficient work. I recognize that consistent behavior issues in study hall may result in the study hall privilege being revoked.”
